Why does my maltese dog have some fur on his face that is similar to whiskers?
My maltese is a male and he is three years old. On his face most of the fur is normal but there are a fur strands of almost "plasticy" hair that stick up and are hard and look and feel almost like whiskers. Is this normal or is this something I should be concerned about? Please help!
He's not a wire haired breed....he's a maltese
I thought whiskers were only for cats???

maltese are not wire haired dogs so im guessing they are whiskers as well it should not be anything to worry about
Dogs don’t have whiskers just on the end of their nose and neither do cats. However, those might be whiskers, or they might just be wire hairs… but then if it’s a wire-haired breed why would you be confused by them? I’m sure it’s just whiskers. I can’t think what else it could be.
Are you talking about around the nose area? That would be whiskers. Dogs have them too

Love, dogs have whiskers as well as cats and many other animals. Nothing to worry about it. Cats help them to stay balanced…dogs are just there for no particular reason that I know of.
