what would be the best collar to use for a great dane dog, that won’t cause red marks/rash around their neck?
I have regular Nylon collar that she wears, But what one would be best for like walking n training her with, I havent used a prong collar yet, but would that cause any redness around the neck when it jabs or pokes her? I have tried choke chains and martingales but they really hurt her neck, and i dont wanna go to using those anymore. I think its since they have short fur that its sensitive on their necks?
shes really strong too so its hard to just walk her with a regular collar. I want somethin that won't hurt around her neck.
yeah i do use a halti sometimes for walking her.
Yea . I have had her in a few obedience classes, and gonna keep her in them for a while.
does your dane get a sore/red neck with certain collars?
Is there anything that would help to prevent this??

If a martingale or training (choke hate that name since it is not meant to choke a dog) is fitted and put on properly it will not cause a rash, redness or hurt the dog in any way. The same goes for a prong collar if it is fitted properly, put on properly and used properly it will not pke or in any way hurt the dog. These training aids fitted, put on and used properly will not cause harm.
A halti is ok, however because of Danes being prone to wobblers care must be given to avoid correction and wrenching the neck around.
Sign up for an obedience class is you are unable to train your dog with just a plain leather buckle collar. I’ve never used anything else on my dogs from puppy-hood to adult-hood.
Have you considered a head collar, like a Halti or a Gentle Leader? They work wonders for my great dane in walking on a leash. He still doesn’t particularly like to wear it, but he tolerates it more now than he used to.
ADD: Is the halti not working for you? Is this why you’re asking about a different option?
Use a stainless steel chain that’s made for dogs for tags. Make sure you examine the chain so that there’s no rough parts that could hurt the dog. for walking your dog try an upper body harness that she doent have to ware all the time

No pressure on the neck at all, and uses the dogs momentum to stop them pulling.
This is just a quick fix though, you need to combine this with teaching loose leash walking. http://www.clickertraining.com/node/541
