As a pup you should not feed any puppy food. I agree with the eagle pack for giant breeds this is what we fed her for the first 13 months. Now I have switch to a brand named natures domain ( it's all natural like eagle pack) but you get 5# more and it's 20 bucks cheaper. All 3 of my dogs love it and they all are very lg breeds so a 35# bag last me ALMOST a week. when you look at what the food has in it compared to eagle pack I'm sure you'd agree this is the right choice. Natures Domain is only avaiable at Costco it's made for them by Diamond. Great dog food at a good price. Give it a try then cut the ingreidents out and ask your vet I'm sure he/she will agree. Eagle pack giant puppy is only 24% protein, 12% fat, 1.1% calcium. It is wheat free, soy free, and an excellent grade food. This will provide solid feeding basis for a giant breed pup. I've done extensive research. My girls were on Solid Gold Wolf Cub (large breed pup) until they were 6 months old. Now they're on Solid Gold Wolf King(large breed adult). Great quality food and reasonable price ($50 for 33lbs). You can get it at Petco or Health Food store. You have to watch the protein and calcium percentage when it comes to giant breed. Puppy food has too much protein. 6 months is a good time to switch to large breed adult food. DO NOT give him calcium supplement. P.S.
