What are some good training treats for a maltese puppy?
I'm starting my maltese on hardcore training. I've heard people say that tear stains are often caused by allergies to food dyes and that I should watch out for them in treats. What are some good treats to use for my maltese that don't have food dyes that could cause tear stains?

i use Natural Balance rolls. it is a dog food and comes in kibble or sausage shaped rolls. the rolls come in different sizes, i cut it in rounds and then stack 3-4 rounds and cross cut it both directions. i put it in freezer bags and take out what i need for training and put the rest in freezer. you only need a very small piece so it last quite some time.
i have never had a dog that didn’t love it and had no digesting problems. you can get it at Petco and some dog showes.
Liver bits! Or dehydrated hot dog bits.
And put her on a high quality kibble like Evo or Canidae to prevent the tear stains too. Good luck with the pup!
baby carrots, green beans, charlie bears (not sure how to spell, haven’t used them in ages), beef heart that you dice up into very small cubes, chicken breast that is cubed up small, "string cheese" that you cut up very small… apple (NO seeds) that you dice up into small pieces… natural balance has treats. Find treats that are basically made of the same quality ingredients as a GOOD dry food. OR, you could just use high quality kibble…

you can research good foods there.
Cook some chicken livers or just a little bit of chicken for her. Another good treat is shredded cheese. With any treat, you only need the smallest of tastes, so make sure to keep it SMALL. Good luck.
