ur not going to get a purebred german shepherd for less than 300 dollars. what is wrong with a mixed breed dog
First of all you chose the right breed there are no better dogs than the shepherd. Unfortunately you will not find one for under 300 dollars unless you find one from a shelter or rescue. A full blooded German Shepherd usually runs about 1200.00 or more. I just rescued a full blooded Shepherd from a rescue, and he was three years old. By the time I paid all the fees it was 300.00. I would get on petfinder.com and do a search in your area for Shepherds because a rescue or shelter is the only way you can get that breed for 300 or less. Good luck, I hope you find what your looking for.
her is a good site. you can type in age color and gender. here! http://www.gsgsr.org. good luck on finding your little baby!
Go to petfinder.com you can do searches by area and breed. Hope this helps.
Google German Shepherd Rescue League of New England – not all of their dogs are on their website – they have had puppies in the past – they have a lot of pure GSDs that need good homes. They also have links to other GSD rescues in other states.
I breed German Shepherds and am located in the Memphis, TN area. Though adoption is a great option to look at while trying to find a dog, if you know exactly what you are looking for a breeder and be a better option.
I know many many many breeders who sell puppies for less then $300. If you are just wanting a pet then you dont need to register the dog with AKC or CKC, and chances are you have no want to breed the dog later on. If you talk to breeders about that alot of times they can have you sign a spay/nuter agreement and take some money off the price of the puppy.
Another thing to keep in mind is the old saying, “there is no such thing as a free puppy.” Although You may find a GSD puppy for only $300 dollars, then add puppy shots, spay/nutering fees, food(GSD need high quality food and they eat alot! Expect to spend around $60 a month just on food alone, thats not counting treats), toys because your new puppy wil want to chew on everyone and everything!, a bed or crate for the dog.
And i would recomend to anyone who owns a GSD to look into pet health insurance. Though your puppy may be healthy now, GSD are prone to ALOT of health problems in their old age. And dumping them at a shelter when they are half blind, cant stand up on their own, cant hold their potty in anymore, and cant keep food down half the time is NOT a good altunative. Get health insurance they they are a baby and have most if not all of your old friends vet bills paid when that time comes. I have seen them as high as $1500 per month for paid killers and special food.
German Shepherds are big, powerful, inteligent dogs. They need to be trained early in life. I would recomend a profesional trainer expeshaly if you have never owned a GSD before. They are proud dogs and have a mind of their own, if you dont know what your doing and how to train a GSD chances are you are going to do more harm then good. Puppy classes at Petsmart or PerCo can work well as long as you make sure to continue the training at home! Other wise i would recoment a personal train to come into your home.
So add all that up, and even if you find a puppy for under $300 you are still looking at, at least, $1200 to start your puppy off.
Good luck.
