How to stop my dog from digging in the flower pots…?
My dog is a hunting dog and very active, so she is always up to something... When we leave her home alone she always digs up the flower pot I have in the living room. I sometimes find pieces of bread she buries to save for later and am tired of cleaning up the mess. I need a method to stop her from doing this. I am looking for a home-remedy to pour or sprinkle into the soil that will not harm my dog, or plant for that matter. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

you can try sprinkling pepper in the pot. They usually sniff before they dig and she won’t like sneezing to much. My rat terriers hide food all over the house and outside. You can also try buring a ballon just below the surface so when she goes to dig it will pop and scare her…but will stop her from digging. You can also try making her a special place to hide her treats/food. somewhere in a corner place a small towel and start putting treats under it for her to find…she will hopefully continue to bury her treats there instead of in your potted plant
sprinkle Cayenne pepper(dried) on top on the soil…….they’ll stop after only 1 time!
Put the plant in another room where she can’t get or put an exercise pen around the plant so she can’t get to them.
Or put your dog in a room where she can’t get to the plants.
Try sprinkling a bit of cayenne pepper on the soil. It will irritate him and maybe he will leave them alone. Also moth balls probably will work, but I can’t guarantee that you dog won’t eat them which wouldn’t be good!
Reprimand her everytime she does it. Put your pots out of her reach. If you can’t do this, try putting a cut paper plate over the exposed soil. I did this to stop my kitty from digging into my potted plants. I would take a thick paper plate and cut out a big enough round hole in the middle so the plant can fit through. Then I cut a line towards the hole starting from the outer edge of the plate. I fitted it over the plant, then taped the cut line to seal it.
