How do I train my 6 month old shepard doberman mix from chewing, and using the house as a bathroom?
I have a 6 month old Germand Shepard Doberman mix puppy that continuse to chew up anything and every thing in her way, and It's driving me nuts. I've tried a few things, and she still continues to do this. Also she keeps using my house as a bathroom. I'll take her out to go potty, and she'll come back in, and go to the bathroom in the dinning room. I'm tired of scrubbing stains out of the carpet. Does anyone have any goood suggestions? Please help.

Try crate training. Quit letting her have free run of the house.
while for the chewing..
my puppy was very good at not chewing things he wasn’t suppose too.. (he only ever wrecked one shoe)…
but anytime i saw him thinking about chewing on something that he shouldn’t be chewing on.. I would give him a bone.. or a stick or one of his toys.. and he’d chew on that..
by making sure the dog has a lot of stuff she’s allowed to chew on should help
My husband and I got our first puppy last July 4th and have gone through all this, so I feel for you.
For the chewing, a friend of ours suggested a spray sold at pet stores which is a white and green bottle flavored sour apple or something and it keeps the dogs away it worked well for us, they hate the taste you just spray it and they leave it alone. For the potty training we simply got her on a schedule where we would feed her first thing in the morning then (we have an electric fence) we just let her out for at least 10 minutes that way she has to go or she will be stuck in the cage all day with a mess. And as far as a cage the smaller the better they have less room to make a mess and get into it and they are less likely to go if the cage is smaller. Then we let her out again as soon as we get home and then feed her and let her out again for about 10 minutes. This way she knows that she is has to go at that time and also if she doesnt eat in the time frame you take their food and make them eat on schedule that helps them go potty the same time too when you want them to. Hope this helps our vet gave us all these tips they are the best ones to talk to about all this!
put potty pads or newspaper down in case of accidents. take her to the same spot each time you take her out. you can even buy a little gadget to stick the in yard called a pee post you can find it at any major pet store. it attracts a dog to use it. also make sure to praise your dog and give treats when she goes in the right place or even on the puppy pad. take her out 15 mins after shes eats right b4 bed and as soon as you get up. keep it on a schedule hopefully she will get the picture. same time every day she’ll start to know when its time to go out and maybe even start to stand at the door. as for the chewing make sure you have very appetizing toys and bones for her if she has stuff she loves to play with and chew on then she might be less likely to mess up your stuff she’ll be too busy with the wonderful things you keep providing. take her to a pet store and let her pick it out. also not just toys but edible things like rawhides and treats inside a kong. make sure you get compressed rawhide tho for your dog since its a heavy chewer regular would be gone in a matter of an hour or two.
Hi there,
my husband and I have a (almost) one year old german shepherd who used to do that all the time. It is something they have to grow out of, but you also need to show them that it is not ok.
What we always did was show him by sticking his nose by it and then giving him a slap on the butt and sticking him in his kennel. If you don’t have one stick her in a bathroom or so.
But be consistent with it. Also, you probably want to take her out a lot. I mean, a lot! I have been through the same thing.
With the chewing… I think its kind of a boredom thing. Or maybe like an exploring the world thing? I am not sure. When she chews on something she is not supposed to give her slap on the butt (newspapers work well, because they make lots of noise with little pain) and giver her a toy she is allowed to play with. Better still, play with her with said toy for a little while.
Mostly though, you are just going to have to be patient. I know its hard, I used to get so frustrated.
But it’s worth it.

I feel your frustration. My dobie girl was exactly like that as a puppy. The chewing is something they grow out of, but it takes a while. If you can’t watch her to make sure she isn’t chewing on things she shouldn’t be, then confine her to a crate or specific area that has nothing in it for her to chew on other than her own toys/bones. My dobie ended up pretty much chewing an entire upholstered chair down to the wood along with getting the bottom of a dining room chair and any receipt she could find. She also had a fondness for leather, but that was my b/f fault for always leaving belts on the floor. The potty issue may be her trying to express dominance over you. When you take her out to go potty, keep her out until she does everything she needs to, once that is accomplished praise her, bring her back inside and put her in her crate for a while. After maybe 20 minutes or so take her outside again to see if she has to do anything else. Let her back inside. If she still goes in the dining room, she is trying to be dominant over you. If this is the case, the only long term solution is to start obedience training so she realizes she has to obey you and can’t do whatever she wants. Another option is to not allow her access to the dining room, if this is a viable option. How often is she using the carpet as a toilet? Many large breed dogs do go through a phase around this age where they forget some of their training and have some slipups for about a month.
NEVER HIT OR RUB THE DOGS NOSE IN IT !!! Crate, crate, crate & a feeding schedule as well as a potty schedule, especially for puppies ! The crate should only be big enough for the dog to stretch & turn, tho with your breed even the biggest crate might be OK, they do not like their HOME pottied in & the crate is their SANCTUARY not a place of punishment, when she goes potty or into her crate as she is suppose to REWARD her with a treat ( keep them handy
As for chewing, they usually grow out of it but they need other alternatives to chew on like the natural rawhides or pigs ears, not the Greenies or rubbery chews, keep one in the crate as well !!! When she chews give her a FIRM ..NO ( not a yell ) & as soon as she quits a little treat ( we kept tiny treats in our pockets..LOL ) & always lots of PRAISE – Good Doggies & chest rubs – the favored spot on dogs ) & show her what she should chew
We have trained the worst dogs this way & always successfully
