I own an English Mastiff and I did show him as a puppy. First you need to have papers showing he is a purebred, you obtain these when you buy your dog from a breeder. Some breeders will sell purebreds who are not show material at a cheaper cost and you DO NOT get their registration papers, so you can’t show. The black mask on an English Mastiff is very important, the blacker the better and no cheating by using colorants to try and darken you dogs mask. Training your dog how to "stand" in the ring is also important. They have to have the correct stance, my dog developed a lazy back left paw that would never stay where I put it, this didn’t make him good show quality. It takes lots of hours of training both YOU and your dog to enter a quality dog show.
Definately go to a dog show and ask alot of questions. People do not mind helping promote the breed.
You need to go to the akc website. There they will give you what the breed requirements are or in other words what the ideal condition of the breed would be. Hope this helps and have fun!
Either go to a dog show and talk to the English mastiff breeders or call on one and ask them to see your dog. They may say come over and show you a Grand Champion dog and you can see the qualities. Either way you need some hands on advice. A web site can get you some breeder names and numbers and some general qualities the dogs must possess to compete.
other experienced show people will now. go to some show trainign classes for help. also, go to the kennel club site , i think the linmk is discover dogs, and it will tell u what it expects.
Did you purchase him on a full AKC registration??
Here is the the website for the breed standard for english mastiffs: http://www.akc.org/breeds/mastiff/
have a look on to google and see if you can find out on there
Take him to his Breeder.
Yeah, check out the AKC website. Also if you have a chance go to a dog show in your area and seek out the people there that have Mastiffs. Spend some time talking to them, looking at their dogs etc.
Breeders of Mastiffs are probably your best resource!!
Good luck
Find a mentor in the breed who has been showing for many years and has any Champions and ask them to evaluate your dog. You can also get an official standard video from AKC and study and learn conformation.
Testicle symmetry is extremely important.
Did you get him from a breeder? Do they show dogs? Did you get the oedifree papers with your dog? Are there champions in the bloodlines? If the breeder is a show breeder, talk to them about the quality of your dog. They should tell you if it is show quality or pet quality. If they gave you a limited registration that means it is sold as pet quality. Good luck in your endeavor. I hope you will be able to show him. He may be a champion!

I’m just a little curious here, but when you bought your dog, what did the breeder say? A breeder usually has a pretty good idea by the time a pup is placed if it is show quality or a companion pet. Were you supplied a copy of your dog’s pedigree and registration with AKC? (your dog has to be registered to enter a dog show) I would start by attending some dog shows in your area and get to meet some of the breeders and handlers. You’ll need to attend some handling classes before you even attempt a show so both you and your dog know what you’re doing in the ring.
