How can I train a pomeranian puppy not to bark?
Hello, I will be getting a pomeranian puppy soon and am concerned about the barking- is there any way to possibly teach it to be quiet?

I usaully use a spray bottle or clap my hands when they bark. I don’t recomend the collars because i smaller dogs they can hurt them. and I had one that was scarred of me because of it.
Just when the dog barks let it bark like once or twice
then spray it with the water and sy no no. so they know its bad.
After that just keep doin it until its second nature
Get a bark collar. You can buy them, they come with instructions. They do not harm the dog.
You can use sound aversion, either shake a can of pennies to distract and praise and reward when she’s quiet. When she barks to warn you of people at the door say thank you and then say quiet, when she stops praise and reward. She’ll soon learn that quiet gets her rewarded. Also a tired dog is a happy and quiet dog so be sure to exercise her a lot.
Every time your dog barks, there are a few things you can do:
1) Get an empty soda can and put about 15 pennies into it. Every time it barks, shake the can. It will make a loud noise and scare the dog a little.
2) Get a sprayer and put vineger and water into it. (not too much vineger). Every time it barks, spray it on top of it’s head & say "NO". It most likely will not like it.
3) When it barks, open it’s mouth while saying "NO" and put a little bit of lemon juice into it. It probably won’t like it and will stop after a while.
4) When it barks, shout no and point your finger at it. This is simple and it might do the job, but if it does not help, then i suggest doing the other things i said before.
I hope I helped you out a little bit. And remember, just be persistent. It will not work after one try, but after a while, your dog will soon get that you do not want him to bark. And also, when your dog is being good and not barking, say "good girl/boy" and give it a treat. Good luck! (:
I don’t know if bark collars work, but I can tell you that early socialization of your puppy will help. Take it out with you often & regularly so it becomes desensitized to new people & different sounds & will be less likely to bark at strangers & any sound it doesn’t recognize.
I just watched a trainer do this today. Try to get them to bark by saying "Speak" and give them a treat when they do. Then while they are barking, say "Quiet" and give them a treat when they respond. This teaches them the "Quiet" command and you can then use it whenever they bark and you don’t want them to. Good luck!
I would strongly suggest against a bark collar. Dogs bark~ It is a part of their normal and natural communication and behavior. Dogs can bark for appropriate and good reasons, such as when strangers approach our house, they hear an odd noise. Most of us want our dogs to be "watch dogs" and alert us to anything unusual.
But dogs on the other hand can also bark inappropriately, and unnecessary; loneliness, separation anxiety, stress, and shear boredom.
While desensitization and counterconditioning strategies to stop barking might eventually be effective, many people want a "quick fix" to make the barking stop instantly. One painless an effective approach is the a spray bottle filled with water or some lemon juice squirted toward the dog’s mouth can have the same effect.
There is also a new product out called the "Gentle Spray" Citronella anti bark collar – I know absolutely nothing about this product but have heard others talk about how successful it has been.

Sound aversion, one thing to try is a yelp, usually it makes your dog stop because in " Dog language " a yelp is like " You hurt me!! " So he will turn around and be quiet. If he starts barking again keep repeating.
