Can my German Shepherd get pregnant by her own German Shepherd puppy?
I have a male german shepherd who is almost seven months old... It's one of her puppies from her last liter. I don't know now if I should keep them in the same pin or keep them apart.

Yes they will breed but since they are so close genetically the puppies run a good chance of being deformed.
You should keep them apart.
He can most definitely get her pregnant.
Of course you should! Or do what a decent dog owner would do and get him castrated.
You clearly don’t know much about dogs so you’re not a registered breeder and German shepherds can be very aggressive especially if they’re not neutered.
YES they can– their breed based on INSTINCT and do not care if it’s their own family member. Please separate them until they are both spayed/neutered!
Hi Will,
That is call inbreeding not a good ideas My Friend. You will get poor quality-looking pups and not really smart. You are breaking down the blood line of the German Shepherd when you do something like this. You don’t want to ever breed family dogs with family dogs ever. Make sure you get the male pup away from mommy when she comes into her cycle My Friend.
Your Friend,
poppy1
you should seperate them inter breadding causes birth defects
Male and female, not spayed or neutered, yes keep them apart
inbreeding is bad, and this close is just calling for some genetically bad pups..
You need to keep them apart. Dogs (and other animals) don’t recognise family relationships in the way humans do and will just see the chance to get frisky!
If you intend to keep both of them it would be a good idea to get one of them seen to so you don’t have to worry in the future.
Very definitely.
I imagine that he has already mated her, unless she is one of the unusual bit.ches who comes on heat only once a year. He would have been fertile by 4 months old.
Whatever genetic defects she carries will be inherited in double-strength by some of their pups. As you had to ask HERE, instead of from the breeder of your bit.ch or a mentor, it is certain that she has no real virtues; but whatever she does possess will also be inherited doubly by some of their pups.
People who don’t know that incest is normal among dogs probably don’t know anything else important, either, such as testing for hips & elbows, having their bit.ch checked for type to see whether she IS breed-worthy, and checking ancestry & offspring of each ancestor to make sure that each stud being considered has superb hips & elbows & temperament and is unlikely to be carrying any genetic nasty that the brood is likely to be carrying.
Anyone intending to set up as a breeder should:
• have one escape-proof mating-proof pen per pooch.
• have a top breeder as their mentor
• subscribe to a breed club and compete in events run by their club.
• belong to several discussion groups about their breed. There are over 300 YahooGroups dedicated to various aspects of living with a GSD.
• have a library of books written by experts on their breed.
• study genetics.

Yes of course he could get his mother pregnant? Why would you think that he could not. I had a friend her dog had four puppies. Unfortunately she waited too long to get them fixed and two of the puppies got it on when they were roughly 10 months old and thus she ended up with 3 more puppies. Mating is a natural instinct animals don’t care who they get their thing on with their purpose is to pass on their seed.
Not knowing that the mother could be impregnated by her son just shows that you should not be breeding dogs. So either you need to educated yourself more or you need to get your dogs fixed
